3 February 2016; EU-China Seminar on macroeconomic modeling: modeling the housing market and economic cycles A420-C1; Beijing

EUCTP II is coordinating a study report with the PBOC’s research bureau on the application of macroeconomic models to regulate the housing market. The main issues to be covered by the report are: EU’s experience on developing macroeconomic models with regards to the housing market; economic determinants of housing prices, sales and investment; impacts of macro and regulatory policies – interest rates, LTV ratio, taxes, and land supply on housing market activities. The study will provide PBOC with a framework for macroeconomic modeling for the housing market which could be used to analyse the interaction between housing market and economic cycles so as to enhance PBOC’s capacity to forecast macroeconomic cycles. EUCTP II will organise a seminar to disseminate the results of this study report. Representatives from the PBOC research bureau and its local branches as well as other relevant representatives from China’s central government ministries will be present.
